Resizing Buttons

Hi all! New week starting off! SO we're here with more handy-dandy blog tips, SEO advice(search engine optimization), the scoop on easy HTML and all news on technical features and softwares.. or for short: Technical Support, as everybody already knows it:)

I got a bunch of requests in the emails to show how to resize buttons and badges from hops, so i said why not, let's get that done.

So naturally, the topic for today is: how you resize buttons and badges!

Well first off you have to get the button's code(the one that you want to resize) and I will use my Boost My Blog Friday button as an example for this one. Here's the button and how big it looks in its original size:

Next step, I need to copy my button's HTML code(or in your case the button you want to resize) and let's say i want to make it 155px wide and 125px high. For that I need to add these values to the code:

And that simple change will transform the button into a smaller version of it, like mine, from this:

  to this:

Now of course with each button the values change, naturally, but you need to keep the difference the same; like if you downsized a button in width from 175px to 145px subtracting 30px, then you will do the same for the height from 155px to 125px, subtracting 30px as well. SO keep the balance.

Hope it helped!! For more tips on HTML, SEO, blogger help and more, check back everyday so you don't miss any of the Technical Support :)

Thanks for the tip! I don't actually have a button (perhaps I need to get me one?) but should I acquire one, this is handy. I'd like to know more about your Boost My Blog Friday though.

I thought resizing needed be done proportionally.

For instance if the proportions of an image are 1000 by 500 and you're looking to make it smaller, wouldn't you decrease it by a set percentage instead of a set number? If I subtract 250 from the 1000, I'm decreasing it by one quarter. If I subtract 250 from the 500, I'm decreasing it by one half.

If I take one quarter off the width and one half off the height, it's going to be proportionally messed up, won't it? Isn't it better to decrease both by a set percentage?

I put the code in after "<img" but I don't think it worked? Or at least it doesn't look differently on my blog sidebar...

I'm not sure how to put the button on my page. I go to Blog School 201 next week, and will probably learn how to do it there, but I am such an impatient student; most teachers are! ;-) Thanks for the tip. I know I will be back once I figure out the first part!
