Pink or Blue We Welcome You!

Last night i got the best news in the past few weeks... my best friend is pregnant! I can't believe it , as she and her husband have tried this for a long time and they had lost their hopes of having a child of their own a long time ago. But last night.. that was it:)
D is only 3-4 weeks pregnant so of course we don't know what the baby's gonna be, but as soon as i found out i started thinking already to the baby shower that I'm gonna throw for my friend sometime before the baby comes.

Soooooo, in the name of the excitement and happiness of having my friend D welcoming a new baby in her life, i did a little try out for some ideas i now have for her baby shower. So i took a few random pics to share with you.

Here are just 3 of the items I'm thinking to multiply and incorporate in the shower I'm planning.. I made a batch of pink for now but planning on the blue batch too... as soon as we'll find out if the baby's a boy or a girl I'll know for sure:)

Til' then here's the try out:

So what do you guys say??? Keep these babies bakin'?:)

Pretty tins???

For the past few weeks i gathered all the tins that i had left over after eating all the sweet corn in the world.. i thought that i can come up with something to use them for... i looked and looked over the internet to see people experiencing with these little buggers.... To see the good points and the no-no's when playing around with tins.

After a few days of debating, i came down to my last 3 choices, and i want you guys out there to tell me which of them do you find cuter than the rest.. and help me pick the final one:)

So what do you lovely ladies think???
I like more the flowers centerpieces idea, but my tins are not that tall.. they're around 2.4".. so i dunno how that would turn out eventually... as for the pencil holder.. it would look nice but i already have 2 other pencil holders that are of course my husband's(so they are more masculine) but then again the office is his space so i kinda have to respect that.
Now the spices tin.. well, while being to small for flower arrangements, they are also kinda to big for the spices tin..plus i dunno if the spices would be freshly stored in them(since they have no lid).. oh i wish i can be decided for once:P oh well this is supposed to be fun .. but i still need your opinion!
So help ladies!!!

Simply Beautiful!!!

Today i want to enjoy simple things! I want to break away from the stress of our modern life and just enjoy the small things that truly counts. That's why I'll go prepare some homemade lemonade on the rocks, put some sunscreen lotion on my feet, get my sunglasses and pop in a chair with a good book in my hands and enjoy the life!

Meanwhile i will let you drool over this simple home that I've discovered this week looking through the Country Living magazines:

And the lovely owners of this beautiful simple home are also running a decor business with all vintage jewelry, frames and all kind of accessories so if you want to check their shop, here's the link Bittersweet Designs.

Hope you enjoyed this eye-candy as much as i did and i dare you to relax and enjoy the simple things in life.. at least today!

Happy Sunday!

Aloha Friday

It's Friday again and that means just one thing: it's time for Aloha Friday! Don't know what that is, go over An Island Life and see how this all works.

Meanwhile here's my question:

How do you lovely ladies sterilize the dishes you buy at thrift stores and flea markets???

I looked up on the internet and i saw that many restaurants do a solution that is 1 part bleach and 2 parts water and then let the dishes air dry. But bleach on the plates I'm planning to use for food sounds a wee bit scary to me. Then again, what happens if the dishes are pewter dishes?? How do you sterilize that then?? And also consider i don't own a dishwasher..* bummer i know *
I'm really looking forward for your answers, cause I'm really in a pickle with this one here!
Thanks a lot!

Oh and also i received this cute award from Tricia @ Thought Treads Thanks alot Tricia!

Gooooo Flower Power!!!

When coming to flower inspiration, I always go to the mother of them all: Martha Stewart. I know she has pretty hot prices for her creations.. but i get my inspiration and then i try to recreate that look for less money. * Who doesn't do that?? *
Anyway the summer season is upon us and i have this thing that i change my flower preferences depending on the season. So for this summer i went with beautiful peonies, delicate lilies and stunning pink orchids for my tastes.
Which one of these bouquets inspires you most for a summer table centerpiece or for a chic mantel full of summer glow and luxury?

Orchids

Lilies
