Easter Ceramic... Coming Through!!!

OK guys .. you already know how crazy i am about white ceramic and i always love receiving presents that are ceramic related. So you think, how much better can it go?! right?!.. well it does go faaaaaar better than just that! I don't know if you figured out by now, but i also love animals.. so when the white ceramic items are also ceramic animals .. then i go totally goo goo :)

I know that the Easter is coming close already, so my husband thought why not giving me my Easter present earlier this year:)

So without further ado.. here's my Easter ceramic bunny :

Isn't he cute and all?
I find him so clean and white:) I just adore him right now.

How about you guys? Do you have any preference for ceramic objects? Or glass items?.. Anyone?!

Wrap it up

OK guys i won't keep it long today. I just wanted to share with you some crafts.. actually is not even crafts.. is just a DIY project i got started half an hour ago and i thought is cute enough to share:)

I always love me some white crunchy chocolate.. no, i am not keeping diets.. my physique is having its own self control.. i am just one of those happy people:P .. but as i was saying... crunchy chocolate always tickles my tastes.. and as we were having one around the house, i just went for it. But before eating it, it just hit me! The wrap was lame and depressing.. too commercial for my tastes.. look:

And so i thought i wanted something more cheerful.. so up to the decorating the chocolate i was.. (sounds weird right? decorating the chocolate?.. when in fact generally chocolate itself is used to make decorations, for Christmas and stuff.. but however this was my crazy thought at the moment and i went for it)

I opened the chocolate's wrapping box and i discovered this beautiful silver wrapping paper..

smth much better to work with, right? right...

Then i went through my wraps and found this striped pink patterned wrapping paper. I cut some of it and then wrap the chocolate over the silver wrapping thing. Look how it turned:

Pretty hot, right?
But i still felt like something was missing.. so it just popped into my head: a name tag sort of thingy!!! I just took a black pen and some white paper and i started doing swirls all over the edge.. and then... Tadaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam!!!!:

Pretty cute right? Now i can give it away as a small host gift or so.. or even let it on my coffee table just for decor purposes.. or just eat it like a piggy:)

You get to choose! Tell me guys.. is this chocolate wrapping thing good enough to be eaten, to be used as decor or to be given away! Shoot me with choices:)

Flower Power !!!

Well I admit I am not quite the green thumb and sometimes i kill the sweet flowers in our home! The first ones who died on me where some Pansies i got from my husband right after we moved to our first rental. Here's how they were supposed to look like:

Then I received a red Christmas Star or Poinsettia.. but short after the Christmas she died..i don't know if she was supposed to or i just neglected her because of the moving out situation.

Now when i suffered her loss i said i will never buy plants who have flowers.. maybe that's the reason why they keep dieing on me. So we bought a Yucca(or at least i guess that's how it's called). I didn't know much about it, but i know that my best friend had one from her mom and she said then that they were pretty resistant and once they grow up, even if they grow so slow, they become a real tree indeed.. I didn't tend to believe her right then but when i saw this picture i knew she was right:

Hers looks kinda like this big right now:

We got two of these and they're quite healthy so far and still growing:D

I won't mention the bamboo i killed a few weeks ago by over watering it, or the seasonal flowers -tulips, blue-bells and daffodils- that i used to have(the seasonal ones aren't my fault.. they were supposed to last just a mnth or two..which they did). But I am still looking forward for the weather to get more stable here so i can buy some more plants now that i have 3 pots available from the seasonal flowers that died. SO i say bring on the weather I'll bring the bulbs(or seeds/or the plant already grown a little..whichever looks cooler;))

What about you ? Are you guys great with flowers or are you just the disaster i am? Dish the flower dirt!

Tiny Little Changes

Well today i was cleaning the bedroom as every morning and after piking up all the small items (tea cups, small spoons, napkins, vitamins, my jewelries and stuff like that)that we left around the bed at night(yeah when we're tired we tend to throw things around the bed without caring for the mess...even tough i am a cleaning freak.. at night those freak-ish instincts go away.. but they come back in the morning more powerful than the day before:P ), anyway..i saw this little basket on our side table. And i remembered it was a gift from my mom.
I didn't quite liked the color of it so i just put it somewhere where i forgot about it. Today tough, i decided to do something about it, so i put my gloves on, took my paints and paint brushes and i started the work.

I'm sorry i forgot to take a before picture of the actual basket but i looked over the internet to find something that looked pretty close to what my basket used to look like.. and i found this picture:

It's the small one in the right lower corner ..or sort of.. :)

After 30 min and 2 coats of white wood paint, the result was this:

I find it quite nice and chic comparing to the initial look. And I'm working on the place where to put it! I'll share with you once everything is done there.. til' then i hope you enjoyed my basket makeover!

Buah buahye!!!

Glass Love

Well i don't know how about you guys, but when it comes to glass and white ceramic i go 'goo goo' :) I always loved the chic pure look that simple ceramic and simple clear glass gives to any picture, and for this reason every time i find an item that is made of these materials i instantly fall in love with it!

That is what happened to me today. I was out in town with my husband, we were doing grocery shopping and as always we walked to the grocery market, just to maintain our physical condition:P(NOT.. actually our car is in service right now so we are kinda forced to do that.. but no worries soon this will change..hopefully:) anyway we were walking to the store and mistakenly(or not) my favorite thrift store is right in or way. I just asked the husband to get in , just for a peek.. "pleaaaaase!!".. and he endured to make me happy:D

we got in .. and i was oooooooooooo stunned.. i immediately fell in love with this little fellow...

The husband couldn't resist my childish look, so he bought it for me.. only 1.50$.. A steal i tell you:D And if you wonder why these greens are showing off in my 'new' glass vase, it's because of this:

Pretty nice right? I find the pink tulips so pure and sensible and elegant.. and i couldn't resist not stealing a bunch :)(actually we payed for them but is a figure of speech:P but however the husband always buys me some fresh ones every week or two, cause he knows i love them..so i was covered with that one anyway.. oh and plus they are not that expensive... 2$ for a 10 pieces bouquet.. i spread them around the house in different vases and i get a fresh , chic, sophisticated look for the whole week.. we both enjoy it ..so everybody HAPPY:)
Aren't they look gorge' in my 'new' glass vase? Do you guys have any specific materials that make you go crazy every time you see an item made of them? If so, do tell!!!

The 'Look For Less' Sunday - bedroom makeover

OK guys as you already know it's Sunday and it's time for the 'look for less' section here over DesignItChic. Last week there was an amazing bureau area that we tried to get the look for the cheapo. This week i was looking for something more relaxed and airy and i found this bedroom that goes well with the previous post over the turquoise color... i guess it's the result of the turquoise curse after all.. but all in all i find it cozy.

So here's the Original Look that honestly i have no clue how much did it cost...but we'll try get the look for cheapo minus the white vent above the bed that i find quite tacky...i would actually replace that one with this chandelier

Realestate

And now for the mood break; I thought that the best Paint that would resemble the existing one would be Valspar - Ultra Premium Jungle Thicket 6003-4C (you can find it at Lowes stores)

Valspar

Now for the fabric on the headboard and the chairs you can roll over to HouseFabric

HouseFabric

This specific fabric was only 8.99$ per yard and i guess around 6 yards would do teh trick for both headboard and chairs.

Now the bedding i found something that goes cozy over at Target for only 34.99$ Queen size.

And a Throw that would go good with the bedding and of course it's Target price

Target

Now the Cushion and the Cushion Cover are coming from Ikea

Ikea

The art over the bed can be replace with the Flowers In Her Hair one from DreamOfStars in 11"x11" in blue/natural

(I only have the picture in yellow ochre/brown)Picture Courtesy of DreamOfStars

The Dress Form i found was something that looked pretty close to the original one, only that is black, but with some leftover fabric around the house or even the one used for the headboard it can be fabulously repurposed in no time

DressFormMall eBay

The Mirror can be perfectly replaced with this Ikea mirror in the biggest size available; it should cost something like 99.99$

And now the last but not least, the Lamps, although they don't quite resemble those ones(that look more like Zgallerie style)i believe these ones fit perfectly with the clean decor and the price it's fabulous...only 89.95$ for the set of two...

LampsPlus

Now the only thing i didn't count was the furniture itself cause this one i considered that it's kinda already there.. everybody has a bed and some side tables in their homes...and the chairs they would be perfect finds in the thrift stores around the neighborhood. So go check yours see what you can find to match the above ones. But on the whole i believe that the options are quite similar or if not they give a good overall vibe and everything is at good prices. You can't beat the bedroom makeover for under 400$ bucks paint included.

So if you guys find something similar that can be posted as a 'Look For Less' makeover don't hesitate to email me and I'll post you right here over Design It Chic for everybody to enjoy!
See you next Sunday...and til' then... goooooo fabulous on a budget!

Turquoise Curse

I am sometimes becoming quite crazy when it comes to turquoise things...sometimes in a good way, sometimes not so much:P It always depend on my mood. But once i saw these beautiful hotel rooms from The Nines Hotel, my eyes were stunned with beautiness. I was immediately hooked up for life. I could look at them and not get sick of too much of this crazy color. So because even now i am still hypnotized by them, i need to share them with you guys so i can get rid of this curse... so i curse you all with this beautiness:

I hope you guys liked them as much as i did and will also get inspired here and there.

What do you do with a drunken sailor?

Well it's not actually a sailor.. and it's not quite drunken either. Actually it's all about color...
So what do you do when you're bored around the house? Of course you're right: you start looking for DIY projects. And what kind of DIY projects can you do when your pay check is far away from coming home to mama ? Of course you're digging your basement for some paint you bought a while ago and forgot to use it.

Well lucky me i found in our basement some remaining paint from the living room. And as i said before, being home alone(husband at work), i started painting the hallway myself.. what do you think, i wanted something with stripes.. lots of stripes...

Of course the stripes are not straight. What were you thinking?..Where you thinking that i wanted them straight?? Nooooo.. anybody could have done them straight.. i wanted them to be uneven.. and messy.. and NOT STRAIGHT:P (I'm just trying to get myself out of this one ..the truth is that i was tired from sticking and unsticking the painting band and it was already 11pm which says it all..)

Anyway, just saying.. i hope you guys have a great week!

DIY Hardware

You might think that this is a post where i share with you some of my experience with hardware around the house.. well it's not.. it's actually something more like a virtually DIY project.. let me explain: i was webbing around and then on the Bower Power blog i saw her post linking to Anthropologie store.. first thing i did before reading BP's post was to check out what the Anthropologie has to say about this:).. and there it was.. this DIY virtual project. You can choose from different furniture(you can also select the color of each piece of furniture) to which later you can add your own choice of hardware(also you ca choose colors to some of them) from the Anthropologie store.

So here's some of the DIY Virtually Projects i did..

This is Chic:

And this is more retro-like:

Now, go check the Anthropologie web and then show back with your own choice of super duper hardware!

Happy Hardware everyone!

Fabulous Ottoman Idea

I would always like me some fabulous, decorative, yet comfortable ottoman for my living room, but as i never found one that was fitting perfectly into the look i wanted to create, i actually figured out that i might have more success if i kinda create my own one.
You wonder how?.. well i thought of buying one that fits the form and size and comfort that i was looking for and then buy some yards of fabric that i loved.. and redo the ottoman my own style.

These being said... this is the first trial to find me my mate ottoman :)

Here's the Ottoman from Overstock that i kinda liked and it was also budget friendly

And here's the Fabric i would like to cover the nice ottoman with

So you guys can figure out how this should look like put together right?.. What do you guys say?.. Is that ottoman one of a fit choice for me or is it just too 'tacky'?
Also if u pass by,shoot me down with some other ideas as well!
Hope you enjoy the first option here tough..
One down, more to come :) Stay tuned!

The 'Look For Less' Sunday - bureau area

OK bloggers, here's the thing: i decided that every Sunday I'll try putting together, just for you, a 'Look For Less' section in which I'll try to find different budget options for a look that otherwise would be much too expensive for a regular budget.

This way it'll be stress free for most of you and budget friendly for everyone! Happy bloggers, happy me:)

So without further ado, this Sunday in the 'Look For Less' section i chose an office makeover. Here's the original office that i am trying to find for less if not half the original price.

Original:

Landofnod

This total office costs:

desk - 249$
low hutch - 89$
chair - 119$
chair cushion - 39$
______________
Total 496$

Now my option would be...

Desk

You can find this item over on Target for only 139.99$ including the desk and the low profile hutch. So instead of paying 338$ you only pay 139.99$. Pretty awesome right?

Now for the chair option we'll visit our favorite store Ikea

Ikea

And here instead of paying 119$ for the chair you have it right into your home for only 39.99$ . Good deal right?

And for a little more zing here's a chair cushion that resembles the one in the original office, as well from Ikea:

And you get this for only 9.99$ instead of 39.99$.

And now the total costs were cut from 496$ to only (139.99 + 39.99 + 9.99 =) 189.97$. That's a pretty good deal to me!

And if you want to add a little bit of more pep here's some lightning option that will not spur your budget too much from our friend Target:

This beautiful lamp is only 24.99$ and it definitely matches the chic style from your new burro.

And for the color choice you can try either Duron - Potentially Purple or Benjamin Moor - Misty Lilac. Either of them resembles just great the original wall painting.

Hope it helps!
And if you liked this section on our blog please check by again next Sunday to see what else we have here to remake for less zuckeroooo :)

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Secretary Love

I don't know if you guys know this about me, but i am passionate about all the fabulous makeovers and DIY projects. I love seeing things becoming something else or even renew the look of a furniture/art/room by adding a little more zing and pep.
So in my hunt for chic transformations, i stumbled over this beautiful baby over EddieRoss

This is the Before shot:

And this is the After shot:

Isn't this lovely work, or what?

Thumb up for Eddie and his fabulous makeover!

Find Your Style

These days i was scrolling down the web and found this beautiful baby

It's a decoration test powered by imagini

and it was fun .. you can find your style and you can play with some color schemes.. and eventually you will get to see some nice shots of amazing rooms that can inspire you in your own decoration on a budget.

This is my result:

Seems like I'm a City Slicker Chic after all.. or at least this is what they say.. actually I'm a little bit of everything.. i like to mix things and to get a nice, clean, sleek and chic look to everything.. plus i do state that the difference in a room makeover stands in the color pallete and accessorizing.. but enough with the talking. .,here's some more details over my so called 'city style' ;)

That's about the living room choices

And this up here is all about the place where the magic happens... ulaaaah :D

Seems like this test attributes me more masculine features than i thought.. uuuugh.. I'll prove them wrong when I'll throw girlie stuff all over the places..grrrrr:P

And of course my dreamy office place that i momentarily do not own because we do not have enough space.

Anywhoodle just so you know, whenever I'll stumble over some decor tests I'll shot them right back at you cause i am so into this kind of craziness:)

Till then keep up the good decor work!
